What Nutrition Looks Like At 60 (Without Traditional Food Rules)
Food for Thought
In our younger days, most of us have tried enough “plans” to last a lifetime. What we need now isn’t another reset — it’s something that works on a random Tuesday when you’re tired and still want to eat.
We all, at some point, come to the conclusion that following a bunch of rules before, during, and after we eat is just no fun. If all the cool kids are eating and having fun, why can’t I do the same things? It’s easier said than done, and until a decision is made to enjoy food as much as any other fun time activity.
My Core Nutrition Principles
- Eat regularly
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
- Build meals, don’t “behave”
- Protein, fiber, fat — not perfection
What This Looks Like in Real Life
Examples:
- Breakfast that holds you till lunch
- Lunch that doesn’t spike + crash
- Dinner you actually enjoy
Letting Go of Food Guilt
Feeling guilty about what you eat wrecks consistency more than any food choice ever will. Eating food at this point in my life is more about behavior modification than trying to add this or cut that out. I am too old and like to eat food too much to limit myself to a few things that don’t taste the same way I remember from my childhood.
FFP Tryout
